1999 TJ TOO LATE       TJ GOING UP IN FARMINGTON The 99 TJ was bought to fill my needs for a Jeep while I finish the CJ-7 PATIENCE.  During my summer '98 trip to Colorado I rented a 98 TJ to drive over Engineer and Cinnamon passes, this made up my mind, I had to have one.  I ordered my Jeep Sport with the Dana 44 3.73 gears limited slip, air -conditioning, 4 liter, 5 speed, hard top, and the 30 inch wheel package.  I knew that the wheels and tires wouldn't stay on the Jeep long, but I knew that my wife's Cherokee would look pretty cool with the package.  I picked up my Jeep in October of 1998, and when I had 115 miles on it, I started my build up. After a year with the TJ I have taken it the Little Sahara Dunes in Oklahoma for a weekend on the dunes. It did very well, but the 3.73 gears and open Dana 30 had to go. I had my Dana 44 front end built and 4.89 gears and Detroit lockers installed before I went to Colorado in July. My dad and I had no problem going wherever we wanted to go. We hit our normal trails and I did Black Bear road for the first time in the summer of 1999. In Febuary of 2000 I started the third phase of my build up. With less than 1,700 miles, I replaced the stock 5-speed transmission and transfercase with a NV4500 and Atlas II. Since doing this I have traveled to Farmington N.M., and Colorado for some great off-road trips. 99 TJ SPECIFICATIONS
